OS Installation
If you’ve ordered a computer from a large manufacturer in the past, you know how they load it up with trial software, advertisements, and promotional materials. This kind of “junkware” is not only annoying, but can even slow down your computer! At Puget, we install ONLY the software you order from us. All bundled software that comes with your hardware is still passed on to you, but we do not install anything you didn’t order. That leaves you with a completely clean installation!
What we WILL do is make sure you have the most up to date installation possible. Your motherboard BIOS is flashed to the most recent version. All Windows security patches and updates are applied. We use the latest stable drivers provided by the manufacturer of each part. From start to finish, we make sure your machine is using the most current software available!

We have owned 2 Dell desktop computers. While the Dell products were good, their customer service is an unpleasant experience. When shopping for a new computer system I began researching options, looking for a smaller American company with quality products and good customer service. I ran across Puget Custom Computers and nearly all the reviews I read were excellent. I communicated with Jeff Stubbers from day 1 and all of our communications have been fast, personal and pleasant. When I picked a system, Jeff offered suggestions on how to make the system less expensive and/or more quiet. When I made my final choices Puget reviewed the system components to make sure they were all compatible. They provide a link where you can check the progress of your system as parts are collected, assembled and tested. When testing is nearly complete they provide photos, including internal thermal photos showing how well the cooling system works. The only problem I had was not with Puget, but with FedEx. They had the correct address, but their driver kept going to the wrong house. When I finally got things straightened out, it was day 5 when I finally took possession of our computer. Jeff and I were both concerned about the amount of time the computer spent on the FedEx truck, but when I got everything set up it started right up and works perfectly. Puget packages their computers very well and they come complete with every nut, bolt, wire and cable from the assembly table. They also include an information notebook with details of every component in the new system. I love the personal attention, great communication and great product Puget provides. I have every confidence that if I ever need help with my computer, the guys at Puget will be there for me. The final cost of my system might be slightly more than a comparable Dell I was looking at, but, honey, you can’t put a price on their customer service and there is absolutely NO comparison between dealing with a corporate giant vs. talking one on one with a person who knows your name.

I read some reveiws here and on ResellerRatings.com and I thought, “Well, they just can’t be THAT good.” But after dealing with the fine people at Puget Systems and after receiving my PC, I have to admit, trite as it sounds, “They ARE THAT good.” The care taken in the building of my PC and quality of workmanship is obvious to me. The PC is perfect, and their input and support during the build process was outstanding.
There’s no reason to gamble with “…Power” dealers who offer lower prices and cheap, refurbished, “like-new” parts and hope you get a system that won’t be DOA. I spoke with two such companies and found them greatly lacking.
There’s just no way you can go wrong with Puget Systems. I found that out the easy way.

I have not yet recieved the computer I ordered but so far the support and information I have recieved during the process has been outstanding. I am in my own small business and I am always preaching that the customer only gets what they pay for. Quality and service at a price that companies can earn a decent profit from is getting harder and harder to sell but I hope that Puget is able to maintain there commitment to this old idea. I will respond after recieving my computer to follow up on the previous statements which I am sure will still ring true.

From start to finish, every detail in your delivery process was letter perfect. Needless to say, my new M515i worked as advertised.
As this was my first mailorder acquisition, I was a bit apprehensive due to my time constraints(I must depart for an overseas location on 25 Nov, no exceptions). I am happy to report that my machine was delivered a day early(11 Nov). This gave me plenty of time to set up my installation and “smoke test” it. Flawless! Thank you and thanks to Jeff for his assistance.

Because my last build (March 2006) has been so solid and remarkably hassle free these past 3.8 years, I placed my second purchase with Puget for a new PC workstation for my home office.
I logged into my existing online profile at Puget (where my first PC’s specs are still logged) and began configuring a new Intel i7 Quad Core 920 2.66Ghz system with Win7 for a quote. Jeff S. was my sale rep this time and he did a great job answering my questions and offering suggestions – some of which saved me money, which is always appreciated. Jeff was always within easy phone or email reach without a lot of phone menu crap or waiting – something I really appreciate as I hate wasting my time. Puget is located in WA state, U.S.A., and I’m happy to give my business to an American company.
From the time of order to built was 5 days, to shipped was 7 days, and I received it one day later. This time frame included Veterans Day and a weekend, so Puget is extremely efficient and quick putting together and getting a system out the door – and they gave me free shipping.
As before, my system arrived well-packaged in an exterior shipping box; the PC itself was packed into the case box, and the inside of the PC had Insta-pack foam around its vitals to prevent dislodging. Inside the box was a 3-ring binder with a thank-you letter, software serial keys, peripherals connection diagram, Quality Control Sheet, benchmark/burn-in/temp results, manufacturer warranty and support information, my invoice, and system disks. In another box is all the extra hardware, cables, wires, etc. from the build. The machine itself is beautiful, with inside wiring neat and very clean overall. Very organized, everything in one place – I love that.
Now I have to wait until the weekend (1 more day for me) to actually hook it up and get started transferring files, so I’ll amend this review then. But so far, I am again/still happy with Puget Custom Computers – they are a world class computer company IMO.

Originally, I was going to rate my experience here a 9. But I had to give it a solid 10 after my computer arrived broken. Sound strange? Here is the story:
I did a lot of shopping around for a new PC. I found Puget among about a half-dozen other on-line customer PC retailers. After deciding what I wanted in a PC, I sent in a email about a configuration I had looked at. Later that day (it was a Saturday), I got a response. I was rather surprised to get a response as quickly as I did (sorry, I don’t remember the name of the person that initially responded to me).
After mulling it over a few days, I got on the on-line chat feature to discuss more details of the configuration. The rep (I believe his name was Wilson) was very patient and gave me great feedback on what I was looking for. He even helped come up with some different options (such as overclocking). I was very impressed with how fast and efficient the customer service responses were, so I placed my order.
The PC took about a week to build. There was one part that delayed it a few days, otherwise it would have been shorter. In this industry that is a great turn around time. When the PC arrived, it look great, fired up with no issues, and was very quiet. I was very happy. So, my initial thought “I’ll rate the overall experience a 9. The customer service was excellent, but I paid a little more than most of the other retailers I had looked it.”
Then something went wrong. Every time I tried to preform a more intensive function (gaming, blu-ray playback), the computer would shut down with a heat warning. I contacted Puget, and Dan explained to me that this should not be happening. It turns out, my CPU fan had been jarred loose during shipping. He offered to either send me a new fan to replace it, or I could sent the machine back to them (Puget paid). I sent it back. I was without my new machine for about a week. But Dan called me and kept me up to date with the repair. In about a week I had the new computer back, and it works great.
In my opinion, customer service is a corner stone for any successful business. Puget has done an excellent job every step of the way. The slightly higher cost of buying a custom built PC from them was well worth it. I shudder to think of the headache I would have been given if I had to deal with another PC manufacturer when my machine arrived with an unseated fan.
10/10

Puget’s excellent tech support after the sale has made me a customer for life.

I purchased a computer from Puget two years ago which has run continuously for those two years. Recently the main cooling fan started making more noise than the other cabinet fans. I was able to look up my order on line and order a new fan. I also talked to a tech who walked me through the steps for the fan replacement. I have never had this service in computer land……Thanks Puget! you get my 10 out of 10 vote……Mike Guthrie
