OS Installation

If you’ve ordered a computer from a large manufacturer in the past, you know how they load it up with trial software, advertisements, and promotional materials. This kind of “junkware” is not only annoying, but can even slow down your computer! At Puget, we install ONLY the software you order from us. All bundled software that comes with your hardware is still passed on to you, but we do not install anything you didn’t order. That leaves you with a completely clean installation!

What we WILL do is make sure you have the most up to date installation possible. Your motherboard BIOS is flashed to the most recent version. All Windows security patches and updates are applied. We use the latest stable drivers provided by the manufacturer of each part. From start to finish, we make sure your machine is using the most current software available!

Read what our customers have to say about our OS installation!

A couple years ago, I needed to upgrade my PC. I made my list of needs/wants, and set out into the vast sea of information that is the internet.

#1 on my list was a SILENT PC. I can’t stand a noisy computer; it just never made sense to me and bugged the crap out of me. The biggest hurdle I kept coming across in my search was that fans cause noise, and a computer without fans is bound to overheat and cause problems. That’s when PUGET came into the picture. I started reading into its product and services, and was impressed. So I customized and ordered my silent PC.

I can honestly say that PUGET provided me with the best of services. Even after two years of heavy usage, I don’t know what I ever did without it. I couldn’t be happier. I can’t even tell the computer is in the room, even during intense gaming or video editing. And I’ve never had an overheating problem. Ever. It’s simply AMAZING.

Just take a glimpse at similar messages below. These are real people; in fact feel free to email me personally if you want a further recommendation.

What can I say that hasn’t been said already? I have never seen a company as detail orriented and professional as Puget Systems. They put the customer first, instead of their financial interest, and make sure you are getting what you need/want and not the hardware they want to push. My salesman even tried to talk me out of some of the addons i purchased and weren’t needed at the moment, just to save me a few bucks. The staff is knowledgeable and extremely helpful.
The build: I bought a Deluge gaming pc. This is one of the cleanest and attractive builds i’ve ever seen.(I find myself sitting and admiring the craftmenship) Oscar is an artist w/ his wiring routing(again clean and you couldn’t see most of them). This is hands down the fastest PC i’ve ever gotten the privilage of using. My PC scored a 7.8 out of 7.9 on the WEI test, outta the box. I turned on my old pc next to this one and this is hands down the quietest gaming computer i’ve ever heard.
Packaging: The packaging is extraordinary! Double boxed, handled UPS’ sometimes rough handling and everything had its place and was more then protected. Everything worked as advertised out of the box as well.
Use: I had this beast of a machine running all day, It never got hot!! I tried WoW on Ultra graphics and tweaked all the settings to max resolution. I had to go into a 25 man raid w/ extra addons going to get any type of lag(which was momentary and not noticable during game play).
Summary: I was so impressed with all the extra’s that they sent w/ the system ie: backup disks, books for all installed hardware and even the little decals that come w/ the installed hdwr. They even sent me brkts and hardware to install my second video card in the future. I got gitty when i saw the test results(again, above and beyond there competitors) I will and have recommended Puget to everyone i know. This is the finest piece of computer equipment i’ve ever owned. Wilson, you were awsome and spot on with the build time and eta. For those of you concerned w/ price, this was cheaper then the alienware i was looking at w/ lower grade components by $1000 bucks(even w/ my employee discount!!) By the way thanks for the education! Your website is one of the most informative i’ve seen. Every extra was installed. All in all I couldn’t be happier!! I’ll be back i’m sure. Keep up the stellar work!!
Thanks,
Paul

Greetings!

I am now the proud owner of a Puget Systems, Serenity SPCR system, and I just wanted to provide a few notes for anyone that might be thinking about purchasing a system from Puget Systems, or is looking into the Serenity as a silent computer.

The Company: Puget Systems is a custom computer shop, with a product line that covers everything from laptops, servers, home theater, gaming rigs, and exotic power machines. Their attention to detail and customer service is well documented in the multitude of existing product reviews and testimonials already in place. I can honestly say that this praise is well deserved. I am extremely happy with my purchase, with the service provided by Jeff, my customer representative, and with the entire team that built my specific machine. While Puget’s prices may be a little higher than a mass market vendor, you get what you pay for. In this case, attention to detail and technical skill that makes your machine less of a commodity and more of a system designed, built, and tested just for you.

Hardware Build: When the system arrived, I was stunned at how neat and clean the machine was. The packaging protected it through the hardships of UPS handling superbly. The system itself had been cleaned (no fingerprints) and clear static film had been put on all cosmetic surfaces to protect them. Internally, the monstrously huge CPU cooling radiator, graphics card, and all other ‘projecting bits’ were held firmly in place by an expansion foam pack. It required a little tug to remove, but was otherwise harmless.

Software Build: The software experience out of the box was somewhat traumatic, but not because of Puget Systems: I was used to XP, and moving to Windows 7 was a bit of a shock. I suspect the migration from Office 2003 to Office 2010 will be equally disorienting. Anyway… From Puget’s perspective, the software install was flawless. The company prides themselves on providing a stable, clean installation out of the box, without any bloatware, trial packages, or other junk that clutters up the program bar and hard drive. This was very true – there was no unnecessary software loaded, everything was as pristine as though I had installed it myself. If anything, I had to load a few basics that I use in normal operation (Acrobat and Flash viewers, Windows games, etc.). But it is nice not having to clean up after an installer!

Testing, Packaging, and Documentation: The packaging contained every single part, screw, sticker, booklet, etc., from every component that the machine shipped with. I expect that box will sit in a closet for a while, but that is okay. It is still nice to have it.

Along with all of the bits, Puget also included a binder including a welcome letter, quality control log, all of the software including restoration and tools disks, model numbers and details for every component, thermal and benchmark results run before shipping. They even included business cards for the buyer to pass along to others if they like the machine. The one thing I miss in the binder was the thermal photographs from burn in – that would have been a nice, but minor, touch.

The packing was built to keep the machine safe in transit. I can understand by Puget Systems recommends that customers hang on to the boxes in case they need to ship the machine someday. The system was well packaged, arriving in perfect condition, thanks to their efforts.

Silence: I have been a proponent of silent computing for years now, and the Serenity is far quieter than my old Hush was. Even doing everything SPCR recommends you do NOT do (i.e., having the machine running on a desktop less than a meter away), the machine is nearly silent. The electronic noise from my monitor is louder than the computer is. So, if there is anyone like me out there, who might be hesitant about buying, don’t be! The Serenity SPCR is as quiet as advertised!

Summary: I am extremely pleased with my Serenity SPCR machine by Puget Systems. I have been impressed with the company, their order process, and the people that take the time out to research each part. The hardware build is exceptional, the software installation is clean, and the order process is both helpful and informative, providing the exact status of your machine as it is being constructed. Thank you!

Puget Systems may not be for everyone. There will always be some buyers that are looking for the cheapest possible, off the shelf computer. Others will want to research their own components and build their computers themselves. That is fine. But for those that do not have the time or desire to do that kind of research, and who do not mind paying a little bit extra for quality and stability, Puget Systems is certainly the way to go. I strongly recommend them!

I have not checked my computer yet, I am at work. It was shipped from Washinton last night via Feb Ex priority. I live about 3000 miles away in delaware and it arrive by 9:30 AM this morning.

My impressions of the company so far has been exceptional, the assistance when designing my system was second to none. Additional questions i had were always answered qucikly and accurately. I made changes to my warrantly from the standard 1 year to the full 3year coverage based on the customer service i recieved.

I had to wait 2 days before the processor arrived and the Pc still arrived within 7 days of order. During the build process an issue was found with the hydro cooler at the end on the phase 2 testing. The part was replaced and all of the tests were re-run and new benchmarks uploaded.

Overall I could not have asked for more. I will update my submission in a months time after using the PC for a will.

I just received my new Puget Systems computer and I couldn’t be happier, both with the machine (which operated flawlessly out of the box and was astoundingly well packaged and organized) and the assistance provided by everyone I dealt with at Puget Systems (especially William George, my sales rep). I’d never ordered a computer online before and was frankly a little nervous about the whole process. But the experience I’ve had with Puget so far honestly couldn’t be better. I must have changed my mind and sent them over a dozen emails asking all kinds of stupid questions before and after the sale, and every question I had was patiently and knowledgably answered. I spent more money than I would have if I’d gone with some other vendors or tried to build it myself, but so far the experence has more than made up for the difference in cost. I did experience some frustration at first with video quality in some games, but after some research and fiddling with settings in the games and on the Nvidea display manager in windows, I don’t think it has anything to do with the video card itself – just settings I need to optimize. There may be some other folks out there that do custom gaming computers as well as Puget, but you’d be hard pressed to find anybody who combines such attention to detail and quality with top-notch and respectful service. Five stars, all the way!

Since my first system in the early 80s, I’ve always assembled my own systems. After some thought, I decided it was time to give that up and started looking around for a reputable vendor that would give me a custom system that would meet my expectations. Things weren’t looking good at first so I started putting together the component list for building it myself when I found a review talking about Puget systems. I did my due diligence and found excellent reviews and a clean, easy-to-use site for custom systems. After finding almost all the components I had specced out, I sent in my “check this” order and got a reply just a few hours later from Brett. He had reviewed the system and made some suggestions (which I agreed with) and we went forward with the order. Honestly, I was nervous about getting a system that wasn’t going to meet my demands. I need not have worried. Regular updates, temperature and benchmarks baselines, pictures of assembly… it was all there to let me know exactly what was going on with my new system.

Once in hand, the system was up and running without any hassles whatsoever and it’s been humming ever since. Well, kinda humming — the dang thing is so quiet, it’s hard to tell it’s on.

I won’t be building my own systems anymore. I did a great job on building systems for the last 30 years. Puget is better.

This was my first experience having a custom computer built, and everyone at Puget Systems made it so easy. Brett helped me pick out components that would meet my needs (video editing / graphic design in Adobe Creative Suite 5.5), and just as importantly, stay within my budget. The customer service from first contact through final delivery was nothing short of exceptional. This was a refreshing change, after years of dealing with the “service” from big-name computer companies.

My system was well packaged for shipping and arrived in perfect condition. The included binder and notes helped make the set-up in my office totally headache-free. I was up and running in less than 30 minutes after unboxing.

I would definitely make Puget my first choice for any future computer systems.

Looking to upgrade my ancient cpu, but not wanting to get scammed, cheated, or bamboozeled i started researching computer and computer supply companies. After weeks of depressing results I was coming to the conclusion that there were no more honest companies online. All the major pc vendors (gateway, dell, apple, toshiba, hp, compaq, and alienware just to name a few;) had a terrible rating for either defective products, or piss-poor customer service on numerous consumer complaint sites (ntm the BBB.) Also, nearly 100% of the computer component supply companies (with the exception of individual component manufacturers such as kingston, intel, etc) I reasearched were either wholly corrupt (ie amazon.com being prosecuted in 9 major countries for fraud, facilitation of fraud, and tax evasion; or best buy, staples, walmart, and circuit city etc not honoring their warranties) or had numerous, non isolated incidents of either terrible customer service or outright fraud (even the vaunted newegg.com has recently had a plethora of incidents of credit card fraud, just type “newegg scam” into google to see for yourself.) Even my local computer repair and custom build shop had problems. I was about to lose hope on getting a decent system. Then after about 5 days in a row of spending 8 plus hours a day reading tech based forums, i came across 2 possible companies with which to do business. The first one unfortunately is in the UK and doesnt ship stateside. Then I found out about puget systems. After doing another week’s further reasearch actually trying to find the “dark truth” so to speak about them (which I’m happy to report so far doesnt exist,) all I found was a couple of RESOLVED complaints dealing with shipping damage, a slighlty extended build time (which is to be expected in a custom build, duh;) or the few ignorant people who didnt see the value in their comparatively higher pricing. You get what you pay for, and I’d rather pay the extra 15-20% for the peace of mind that I shouldn’t have a problem with my purchase, if I do it will be taken care of, and lastly that im not going to get charged for something I didn’t want to buy. Though I don’t know personally from experience YET, and every purchase these days carries the risk of “buyer beware,” (especially on the internet,) for now puget systems background, informativeness, and ethical (take care of the customer first, short term bottom line later) business practices are a breath of fresh air in this modern online sea of uncertainty. As soon as my tax return hits my bank account the first week of March, I plan on finding out if everything is as good as i hope and expect it should be. At that point I will write a further review (and most likely very positive) and be able to upgrade the 9 to a 10; along with spreading the word on other sites, forums, and consumer panels/boards. Oh and lets not forget the best part for puget systems of a satisfied customer: REPEAT BUSINESS!!

I’m very happy with your company’s service and the quality of your computers. I was thrilled to receive my new Serenity desktop a few days ago. It was a big jump for me because I was giving up on Apple products (iMacs in particular) and wanted to try Windows 7, which has worked out quite well.

Here is some feedback on your performance:

Great website; easy to use and navigate
Great customer support; I liked the way the sales person came up on chat in couple of minutes to ask if I needed assistance.
Good tracking of the computer as it was built; status kept me informed of the progress. The picture of the computer was a nice touch.
Computers are very professionally built; almost like a work of art when I opened up the case to remove the packing foam.
Products are exactly as advertised; the Serenity is very quiet, not like the Dell desktop I had several years ago.
The computer was professionally packed; it arrived in perfect working order.
No bloat! No unnecessary programs on the computer The recovery disks were a nice touch. Ever try to do a clean reinstall of Windows XP. It’s a two day project!

Here’s the bottom line. If someone wants a cheap, discount computer, you are not the place to shop. If someone wants a custom built computer at a fair price and with a whole lot of extra value, you’re the ones I recommend.

Wishing you a happy and prosperous 2012.
