Forgive me if this seems like a random post but it’s the last few hours of work on a Friday night during summer in Seattle, so, you know, it’s random.

I am sitting here, in the Puget Systems bunker, thinking about all the stuff I have to do around the house. As my list grows I start to think about the fact we get like 15.3 sunny days in Seattle every year. They are gold. Who wants to be doing chores in the yard when you could be barbecuing in the yard?
It’s summer, the kids are out of school, people are in a good mood and the grill/pool/lake/woods is calling my name.
Then it struck me: I need to do a major overhaul of one of the computer systems in my house. Like a wipe, reinstall and maybe some hardware. So you know how the story goes: a whole day, busted. But then it hit me. I don’t need to sit and watch that progress bar all day. I just need to be around to keep hitting the Enter key.
I now have a perfect excuse to devote a day to reading, grilling and lounging: I have to work on my system.
